Alternator/tensioner bracket

Trying to find information on a part number for a Volvo Penta 5.7 GI alternator/ tensioner bracket it is aluminum and the tensioner bolt hole is striped out any help would be very appreciated.

You might not have the right one now ? Have to do it alldodge way.

A good tip I recently learned is to go the VP Shop website (link) and put in your engine serial no. It will take you to a parts breakdown by category.

If what you are looking for is what I think it is, it will be expensive, so look for repairing it using a Keensert or Helicoil. If not familiar or uncomfortable doing this take it to a local machine shop and they can easily do it.

Ayuh,...... The heli-coil threads are much stronger that the original aluminum threads,....

I will PM you with several VP part suppliers that have a lot of inventory. Doubtful they will have this, but…
However, since your bracket is currently working and this is more an insurance / comfort level here is a suggestion:

1. Get a used one fm eBay or perhaps Michigan Motorz (link) has a spare laying around they would be willing to sell you.
2. Clean it up and thoroughly inspect the item > can use a bolt to check the threads by screwing it in and feeling if it is loose (requires a some experience) or if really concerned, take it to a shop to use a Go/No-Go gauge.
3. Keep it as a spare and only install it when has issues with the other one.

• Doug Russel Marine link in MA. Great website but sometimes strapped for help in the parts dept so if you do call expect to be on hold or get a call back. But they always come thru. Sell OEM and interestingly were one of two businesses that bought up the Larson inventory when they closed. You can find them on eBay as well.
• Cecil Marine link in NJ. Very helpful phone and email support. Great website.
• Leaders RPM link in MI. Excellent phone service / help. Only OEM from what I know.
