Hi all, this is my first posting.
I own (11 yrs) a 1989 Wellcraft Classic 190, with original 1989 Mercruiser 470 (3.7L) .I recently noticed that I am often getting 18 V. from the charging system. I suspect voltage regulator and or alternator (magneto?) problems, which I understand are quite common on this model.
I would like to replace the original charging system with a more regular alternator and have been looking for the "Breezeworks " kit (no power steering). Unfortunately the Breezeworks organisation seems to have disappeared earlier this year.
Any info regarding the situation with Breezeworks or alternatives will be greatly appreciated.
I would also like to get the circuit details of the original 1989 voltage regulator but do not know where to look.
I will appreciate any information you are able to give
Thanks

Just sent PM with the owner's email. I just spoke with him a few weeks ago.

Thanks Bt Doctur, Terry, and S D Seville for the info. I am still trying to talk to Breezeworks .However
I have found a different supplier of a kit......the name is "HunnFinn" who sells a good looking kit via e bay. This gentleman designed (yr 2000) and builds 3 versions of the kit to suit power steering.

I have the Breezeworks low mount non power steering conversion on my 470. I would recommend you try to make that connection with Breezeworks and use their kit. Just sayin.

Yeah that kit is more expensive but looks pretty good, like the multiple bolting points on the cover. Not too impressed with their display engine though LOL. Let us know how it works out.
