I have a 1995 sea ray 185 5 series with a mercruiser 4.3L

I noticed that my gauge was reading 11.2v when the engine was running. I tested the battery with the voltmeter at 12.77v while engine was stopped. While running battery was at 12.4. I tested the alternator directly and it tested 12.5v. If I remember correctly they should be at 14+. Id like to save some cash and wondering besides paying for someone to rebuild it Id like to find the cheapest one I can. So far I believe ebay has the cheapest. Anyone have any other recomendations or the alternator part #.

Thank you!

Re: alternator recomendation for merc 4.3

Take your alternator to your local starter/alternator/electric motor repair shop and get it checked out and fixed. Usually a lot cheaper than OEM, and a lot better than the cheap aftermarket.

BUT before you do anything, look at this service bulletin.
