Alternatives to power trim.....

1989 johnson 48 SPL

Hey guys, I have the 48 spl that has no power trim. With the shallow lakes in Florida this has become a real issue with my 20 ft. Sylvan pontoon boat. I have been trying to think up a way to rig something up. I need ideas and its got to be fairly cheap. The wife is tired of my "boat expenses." Any ideas?

The motor rides on the tilt pin, so you will want whatever you use to transfer the pressure there. How about you drill a hole in a 4X4 to accept the tilt pin. You can cut the sides of the 4X4 to different thicknesses and flip up the one you want to use for tilt. Gee all that w/o a beer to make it happen....

This will pea off your wife, but try CMC.com, Tell her if she wants to go boating this is what you need. I did it to mine and it worked !!
