Tried getting a few from Tungsten Marine, but they are out of stock as shown online. They won’t answer their phone or call back either. Are there any other sources for the gasket without the bead on it?

Yes. It was recommended to get the gasket without the bead since I keep having mine squeeze out when tightening the drive. Tungsten marine had them

If they are squeezing out it's because the surfaces aren't clean and dry (and oil free) or you're seriously overtighten them.

It’s neither. New nuts, and thoroughly cleaned surfaces. I think the problem is the two surfaces in the skinny parts aren’t completely square any longer. 30 years of gasket changes and cleaning and scrubbing with scotch bright to get the old gasket off has rounded them a little. That’s why I think the gasket squeezes out. I don’t recall torque spec off hand, but I torque according to the service manual. First year I did the drives, I hand tightened to “good and tight” torque. Second year I had the manual and followed that. Had issues. So unsure if service manual torque is my issue or not.

make sure your surfaces are 100% oil free, sliding is your enemy. Take your new beaded gasket since without bead are getting hard to find and sand the bead, roughen it up. use 220 grit, use a block of wood. sand parallel to gasket not across. Sand almost down if you like. Useless anyway and install. If that doesn't get it pull out what extruded and use Permatex Ultra black silicone to fill gap and let dry.

there is zero pressure inside that cavity, its open to atmosphere. only pressure it sees is water pressure trying to push gasket in which is negligible.

I sprayed my bell housing at outdirve with quicksilver outdrive paint. It was a nightmare getting the old gaskets off when I removed the outdrive. I got so tired of messing with it I put the outdrive together with zero paint. Used gasket with bead and it didnt squirt out. That leads me to believe the paint was acting as a lubricant allowing the rock hard bead to slide and extrude.

as far as extrusion i seen 6 boats at ramp with it occurring. i just glanced as I was walking to trailer. **** gasket **** design blah blah blah

Found the gasket. Sierra 18-2614. its the pre alpha gasket without drive lube monitor oil passage.
 It's an MC-1 gasket, not 'pre-alpha'! Merc never made a drive called 'pre-alpha'.
