Long story short….went out one day on the water and then parked the boat in the drive way with the drive in the down position. The next day I come outside to see gear oil on the ground and my reservoir empty in the engine bay. Did some investigating and found it leaking through my bellows. My bellies had a hole in it compromising the upper drive seals. So I have the drive removed from the boat and the drive separated upper and lower. On the lower unit I have removed the bearing carrier but doing so left the No. 14 Thrust Hub in the lower unit. I have tired getting underneath it to pry it out but no luck. Do I need to remove the prop shaft? The only reason I wanted to was to replace the bearings and seals. If anyone could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. I have the special tools except to set the preload.

Try spraying with a penetrating oil and try rocking it side to side?

Thank you for the reply I will try that. I’m just afraid of breaking something. Could I grab the hub of the reverse gear to help pull the thrust hub?

what are you calling the thrust hub? Bearing #15 is pressed onto the gear and usually comes out with the carrier
