Oil turns light blue/ milky over several months of 24/7 in water time.Oil does not run out.Have pressure tested right from reservoir, with drive empty of oil, holds 14 pounds forever.Drive is 5 years 500 hours old.
Did not vacuum test as I read somewhere that newer style seals don't hold a vacuum.
I'm reluctant to do a complete drive disassembly at this time, thinking /hoping it's quite likely the seal below water pump. Thoughts or advice wanted.

Yes .I've been using the ones with green o rings and I believe they are good Wouldn't they leak air or oil out if they were the problem?

Ayuh,..... I donno, I use the black/ gray paper ones, 'n some years back, I had a water problem, that I eventually traced to a burr at that gasket face, which I cleaned up, 'n the problem went away,....

I think I'll switch back to those ones. What about the vacuum test Bondo,? Is it something to be tried?

Ayuh,.... The vacuum test is a Volvo thing,....
Merc manuals state the pressure test,.... Which I do, with the drive on the bench,.....
That way, I can rotate the shafts, shifting it, 'n whatnot,....
