Hello, I have an Alpha 1 Gen 1 sterndrive sn 0B585216. My trim hoses were in bad shape, original since 1987. when trying to install new hoses, the 2 bolts that hold on the clamping plate for the long trim hose sheared off. Extractor broke off making matters worse. I was planning on odering new trim cylinders vs trying to have a machine shop drill and re tap. Problem is I can't seam to find the right ones. My part number is 14035-1 and14034-1which is the power trim xd, all I see available is the 98704A3/98703A3 and a 14035A3/14034A3. Looks like the XD had more travel (tilt). can some help decode this. Can I use a non XD part if I do not need the extra tilt? Thank you

I will take a look at your links, I have been looking at mercruiser parts and BPI

The BPI site has this note:
Trim Cylinder Starboard for Mercruiser Alpha 1 Outdrive 98704A3
Starboard Power Trim Cylinder for a Mercruiser Sterndrive. It replaces cylinder # 98704A3 for Alpha using large bushings with 1 long and 1 short trim Hose. This cylinder measures 21" tip to tip in closed position. Be sure to check your cylinder number before ordering. The number is located on the side of the cylinder and is closest to the outdrive so you will most likely need ro remove the cylinder to find your old number

Manual says the -1 after part number has 3 degrees more Trim, the Power trim XD that I have has extra Tilt.

The notes are just below item number 11, https://www.perfprotech.com/mercury...rive-unit-chart/assembly/2203/10?umodel=25874

But also just for reference points in your studies , see 1 - 10 as you scroll down

Thank you, this really helped with my confusion, also discovered the long trim hose I ordered would not have fit any way, it was the 11 inch and not the 11.5 inch. Ordered all the parts last night. I thought this would be a simple task.........never is. I guess I can't complain these were the original trim cylinders from 1987 and it was used in saltwater.
