Re: alpha 1 sterring

the steering cable from the helm should be connected to one of the drive steering arms, usually the STBD side because most boats have the wheel on that side

there should be an adjustable rod between the two steering arms that allows the drives to turn simultaneously

merc uses a pin to connect the cable to the steering arm but i suppose a bolt/nut would work too

hi i found out that its the pin in the middel og the gimbel ring is stripped out so from what iam told you have to replace the ring and strring arm to a updated sq. style .other thing is does the power stering pump need to be hooked up?

Re: alpha 1 sterring

you may as well do both rings and steering pins as long as your at it, bet the other one goes out soon - if you have never done this install before it will take you a while with the proper OEM manual, otherwise you may want to have it done at a shop

most dual engine set-ups have two power steering pumps but use only one - if both are used there will be a transfer block and priority valve assy mounted somewhere in the bilge area - follow the hoses to find it
