Alpha 1 Gen II Upper Question

I replaced the U joints on my drive. To do so, a mech told me to remove the U joint shaft nut on the drive gear, and slide the shaft out. I did that, replaced the U joints, and now I am ready to re-install. He told me to thread the new Nyloc style nut on until it has bottomed, then go another 1/4 to 1/2 turn and I'm done.
Does this sound about right? My question is about the rolling torque vs 70-80 foot pounds on that nut. How do I know if my drive uses the small spacer? I dont want to over tighten or under tighten this nut.
Thanks

Just to add, the mech never mentioned anything about the rolling torque or the 70 ft lbs on the nut.
Thanks

The 'mechanic' is an idiot! All Gen IIs use rolling torque set-up... Having removed the nut you now have to remove the entire bearing pack and set up the rolling torque as per the book. Should you decide that you don't need to do that, you be buying a complete new drive quite soon. If the torque is not set up correctly, the box WILL die....

FFR.. The unis can be changed without touching the internals of the upper (or lower :D). Just flick the inside clips off and punch out one side. Pop the bearing cup out and drive the cross out the other way. Pull that cup out and the cross just falls out...

Re: Alpha 1 Gen II Upper Question

Guys, thank you for that. I knew it sounded too easy. I will be removing the whole thing, and setting it up according to the link Don kindly privided.
After the rolling torque has been set, i just insert the assembly back into the drive and then torque the retainer nut to 200? Then its good to go. I just want to get this right.
I'm going to call the local merc dealer to see if they have the retainer nut tool in stock.
Thanks again guys, big help!!
