Alpha 1 gen 2 serial # help

Hi im trying to figure out if an outdrive will work with mer 3.0 motor.
The serial# is 0D628748, alpha 1 gen 2
My boat is old 89 3.0 i know its prob not enough info but will the gear ratio work.
Thoughts?
