Alpha 1 gen 2 mercruiser: what should I use to lube steering cable?

I have a ‘98 bayliner Capri with a mercrusier 3.0 alpha what should I use to lube the steering cable it is very stiff. Thanks guys!

From everything I’ve read, just buy new cables. Lubing it is a bandaid fix at best and will only delay the inevitable. High quality cables are a worthwhile investment.

The steering cables on Alphas can bind in the steering tube, at the engine. That can be greased. The balance of the steering cable is sealed.

Quicksilver makes a "Special lube 101" for steering cables. It is the best, but as long as you grease it once a year, any marine grease is fine.
