Anyways, job is all done and I learned a lot. Last year, I did my shift cable, bellows, zincs, u-joint cross and bearing assemblies, plugs, belt, trim and stop limit switches, raw water hose, prop, bilge pump, wiring harness...you get the idea

Glad you got it figured out. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had to do a job twice because I missed something like that. I guess that’s how we learn to do it right…

Awesome 👍 I take notes on all my work and make folders. Sometimes, I add pictures and copied pages from the manual. These I/O outdrives use a lot of special tools and are not what I would consider easy and intuitive wrench work. The bellows job is a PIA and I've done it a few times now. The water impeller job has a lot of steps that have to be done with attention to detail, as specified by the manual. Lesson learned, read first, pull apart later.

Did you have the top plug out when filling?
It just hit me why you asked that question (pressure) I'm guessing oil in the bottle with no filler tube and oil in the line and the pressure stayed in the fill bottle? Great thought though-- sorry I did not pick up on it when you mentioned it. Thanks again.

When I fill them, I have the top plug out of the drive and fill till it comes out there. Then I install the plug and finish filling from the bottom up to the full line on the bottle at the motor with the cap loose. After running for a bit, the bottle will get lower as there is an air pocket in the drive. Top off and done.
