Alpha 1 Gen 1 Ujoint bellows help

Alpha 1 Gen 1 Ujoint bellows question. Is there an aluminum ring (flange) on the inside of the ujoint bellows to hold it to the outdrive helmet or is this only gen 2 and newer? A new ring didn't come with my kit. It only came with worm gear clamps. And my gen 1 manual doesn't mention the ring. The pic has the bellow along the outside of the transome and helmet fitting and not the inside. Any help would be appreciated. I almost have the entire thing back together but I'm stuck on this.

Does the drive shaft bellow with the ring instead of the clamp need bellow glue applied?

I always glue just where the rubber meets the housing. The metal ring I give it a shot of power tune and slip it in.
