Alarm on Johnson 115

We have an '81 Johnson 115, and occasionally an alarm wll sound from the remote control area. Usually occurs when we have been running and then slow to idle - especially skiing. Is this an overheating alarm, or something else? Appreciate any insight.

Steady horn is overheat alarm.

'fraid of that. hoping new water pump may help; don't seem to get great stream at idle.

i once had this same mtr and was missing the plastic insert by water intake port,my hot horn went off too,blew a piston,turned out it sucked up a rock into it and blocked the water pump thermostat passage.that sucked.be careful
