Hello anyone, I have a Bayliner trophy, it has a Mercury 125 hp outboard motor. There is an alarm sound that's going off when I turn the key on, what is that? 2002 Bayliner Trophy/pro? Outboard motor is a 2002 125EXLPTO.

It’s supposed to do that Before the motor starts to tell you it’s working. If it does it after it’s running you have an issue.

Right , I know that,

Would it be temp, or the drive level lube, this was the first start up from last year. Thank you for your response!

Well did you have it running? If it did it after started but not warmed up, I'd say the drive lube, or oil pressure. The drive lube monitor float will stick sometimes as the bottle should be cleaned out on occasion.

Usually hi temp or low on 2 stroke oil. Is your outboard a 2 or 4 stroke? Did the alarm shut off when the motor stared?

Yes after it was started too.

If the boat has two oil tanks confirm both are full and the floats/sender moves freely. Most likely not a temp issue if it alarms as soon as you start the motor.

It sounds like you don't have an owner's manual for the motor. Everyone here is guessing as to the possibilities, and they are good guesses. I typed "mercury 2002 125EXLPTO manual" into a search engine and found your manual in less time than it took to post this response.

The manual will tell you what the specific alarms on your motor mean.

On my Suzuki motor, some alarms are for maintenance while others are about specific problems.

No, just purchased this boat, just wanted feedback from some experience boaters. The sensor in the oil reservoir tank is bad, so I disconnected it until I purchase a new one. This forum has helped me with everything I've asked. I have all the manuals just wanted some quick thoughts. Also YouTube is another successful tool I use, I've saved thousands of dollars using both. Thank you all for your inputs!!!
