Was cruising down the New River in Ft Lauderdale this afternoon....got out to the intracoastal....still at idle mind you, hit the trim switch just to make sure it was working and immediately the alarm started sounding....nothing I could do to stop it. Shut the engine down, disconnected the battery, thinking a relay had stuck...hooked it all back up...nothing...still that damn alarm blaring...and of course Im limited to 2000 rpm...

Any ideas???? I suspect a bad trim pump motor...any idea why that would cause the alarm to sound...I had just filled the engine oil so I know thats not the issue...the exaust water is warm...not hot...

Re: Alarm and trim switch

1994 Yamaha Pro50 Constant buzzer....no overheat...water pissing out is only slightly warm...I havent touched it since Saturday..I went out to work on it today...connected it to a water source and when I started, no buzzer...the motor is on a 17' Boston Whaler...the harness runs thru a tunnel down the middle of the boat..I had washed the boat prior to using it last Saturday and there was still some fresh water in the tunnel...Im suspecting that I may have a break in the insulation of wire harness...water got it and it shorted. Im going to get some rigging tubing and run the harness cable thru the tubing...seal it at both ends so that the cable stays dry in the middle when there is water in the tunnel.. what do you think??

Could be wires/connecctions. When you pull the old harness check for any corrusions. deff sounds electrical seaox20 out
