My mercury engine gets an alarm then goes into limp mode. The engine is a 2015 Mercury 50 hp 4 stroke. The engine is peeing good and the water is cool to the touch, The temperature sensor was broken off from the side plate and the sensor part is inside the motor behind the side plate .I replaced the sensor with a new one but didn't take the side plate off to get the broken part out. The alarm still goes off after about 5 minutes running down the waterway,Could something else be causing the alarm to go off. Please help..

If that's the ECM temp sensor then that's what's sounding the alarm, otherwise need to scan the motor to find out what is causing alarm

I’m sending some pics. I think it’s just a water jacket temperature sensor. The highest temperature reading I got was right near the bottom spark plug where the rubber hose is. It has a wire tie around the hose. Temp there was 190 degrees on my temperature gun. I’m slowing the temperature sensor on the water jacket plate front view and back view. Hope someone has an answer for me today. Thanks.

If this is a EFI motor look for another sensor on the head. Could be the temp sensor is the issue, otherwise need a scan
