I have been working on an older evinrude and I’m curious about something. There’s no opening anywhere on the cover for air intake. How does this engine get air when running?
Take a very good look at the lower cowling.-----The motor is nearly 50 years old.-----I am sure there is a way for air to get in.-----Otherwise it would have been modified many years ago.
Yep, I have often wondered the same thing. Just rest assured that it does get plenty of air, and there is no problem. They made many thousands of those and similar models.
Just looked at some similar lower cowlings.----Plenty of places for air to get in.-----What is the motor doing / not doing that leads you to believe there is an air restriction ???
Often a hole in the bottom front of the lower cowling. I've always thought that was for air, but could be wrong -- suppose it could also be a drain, but the possibilities there seem a little worrisome.
