Hello again, I purchased an aftermarket stator for my 96-99 Force 120 hp outboard ( still can't find a year or serial # anywhere on motor). The old stator has two yellow wires w/ male ends, a green/white and a white/green wire with female ends. The Caltric stator has two yellow wires w/ female ends and solid green wire and a brown wire with male ends. Does anyone know where the solid green an brown wires connect to- green/white white/green?? Attached are some pics. Thank you

I have been reading about the different stators used on Force Mercury motors and am concerned about the Caltric stator I purchased. I'm reading about 9 amp or 16 amp stators. I am not sure of the amps of the Caltric stator I just got, and have no idea of the original stators amps, as it was thrown away last year. The Caltric says it is a match for the 96-99 Force 120 but I am concerned about frying other electrical components. Never easy! Thank you, Griggsmars

Serial number should be on the transom bracket. The CMI part number is 174-2075K 2 and looks like your picture. The CMI is 16 amps.

I'm not familiar with Caltric. I would think it should have installation instructions. I looked at their WEB site and they don't really have any information about Marine products.

Does your ignition system have the 4 CDM coil packs as pictured below?

If so, measure the resistance between the Brown and Green wires on the Caltric stator. If it reads somewhere between 400 to 700 Ohms, then I would think it should work. The Brown and Green wires take the place of the Green/White and White/Green wires. I don't think that it matters how you hook the Brown and Green wires up. The two yellow wires go to your Rectifier/Regulator assy.

Yes, I have the 4 CDM coil packs. As far as the year- there is nothing at all on the transom bracket and can not find anything on the motor as far as a serial #. But from looking at pics- my motor looks like 96-99. I'll try to check the ohms next. Thank you

Just checked the ohms on the new stator, it read 684 on the multimeter.

684 Ohms would indicate that the windings are similar to the original stator with the White/Green and Green/White wires. If it were me, I would go ahead and try it out.

NOTE: I believe that the amperage output...9 or 16 amps are specs for the battery charging circuit...the two yellow wires.

If you don't get any spark, then disconnect the Black/Yellow wire and if necessary, unplug the CDMs one at a time like I mentioned in the other post.
