After disconnecting VRO/which fuelpump?

Ive rebuild a rude 70 hp95.(BE70TLEOR)<br />The engine runs oke at idle but while the boat is in the water it will not go further than 2000rpm at WOT.<br />I removed the VRO system en premix the fuel as in the old days.But im wondering have i placed the right new fuelpump? is the outlet of fuel enough for the 3 carbs at WOT?<br />I used the fuelpump from a johnson 3 cilinder 70 hp.Does anyone know what pump is recommended?<br /><br />I thank you from oversea

The old VRO pump will work fine with the oil side disconnected.

Welcome Ruud!<br /><br />Why did you rebuild the engine would be my first question.<br /><br />Actually you could have used the VRO as a fuel pump. Just leave the oil side disconnected. How old is the fuel pump you put on the engine?<br /><br />Some things to look at....make sure the throttle plates are coming all the way open at WOT.<br /><br />Sync and link been done?<br /><br />Has the high end timing been set?<br /><br />I know...questions....but some history helps with solving problems.....

I agree. Use the OMS pump (you never had a VRO pump) as the fuel only pump. It will provide more pressure than those old style pumps ever could.<br /><br />If it were me, I'd use the oil injection.<br /><br />For now, lets get to OBJ's questions. We'll get it going, no problem.

Hello,everyone.<br />Thank you all for the response to my question,<br />as an answer to your question:<br />Ive rebuild my engine becouse it run out of oil en de piston became one whit the cilinder wall!<br /><br />I didnt know that i could use the old pump so ive used an older one from my first motor wich i kept for spare parts this is a engine bild in the 80s

IF all 3 pistons became one with the cylinder wall, then it could have been a "VRO" pump problem, but the NO OIL warning system would have sounded first.<br /><br />If only one cylinder was damaged, it was NOT a "VRO" problem.<br /><br />Click on this link for more info.<br /><br /> http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/VRO.html

Agree with Sea Horse. A failed oil system WILL NOT effect just one cylinder.<br /><br />More than likely, you have a carburetor problem.
