I have an 88 tercec belgian made 8hp evinrude (tracker marine).
a studs that holds the carb was stripped. As carefully as i tried, the whole stud became threadless when i removed the bolt. I probably just should have died it to a smaller thread but impatience got the better of me and I thought I would try to unscrew them and the bolts broke. At this point my choices are to pull the head and tap out the old stud, or buy a used replacement head or?? Something I am not thinking of? IS pulling the intake manifold going to result in a new host of issues? it looks like its just four bolts....
I am really starting to question if this is worth it. In the last spring I have bought: a new driveshaft, fuel pump, rebuilt carb, replaced cracked fragile float bowl and carb top, new impeller.(about 300$) Engine has been in family for years has been well taken care of has low hours and has been running good until recent carb issues... really hoping to get it running and sell it: buy something bigger and newer.
any advice would be great.
