Does anyone have any experience with an 89 MFG Caprice? It looks "Whaler-ish" but I can't find much online. Here is the ad: 17' Center Console, 55 Yamaha, Trailer and it's about five minutes away so I might as well go take a look. The water puring out of the boat in the picture does not give me warm, fuzzy feelings, but it might be worth a few minutes if my time.

Any info/insight you have would be super helpful.

Re: Advice on a 1989 MFG Caprice

It might look like a Whaler, but it's not Whaler construction, and a boat full of snow is usually a bad sign, and water flowing from the bilge drain is always a bad sign. Means it's had the plug in all winter.. The boat is most likely not in good shape

However the engine has about a $1k value according to NADA ( 1995 C55TLRT ), so from that add $500 for a pretty nice tilt trailer, and subtract $100 for waste disposal of the hull... If the motor runs good, then I'd submit an honest offer of $1,400 if you want a project. $1,800 if you really like the hull.
