Re: Advice needed - water in lower unit

If you do a partial reseal, you don't pull the lower unit. That's the reason you can miss the driveshaft seal, shift rod housing seal and the shift rod o-ring. He's correct, usually the propshaft and carrier seals are the leakers, but that's no reason to skip on a complete reseal job that the customer paid for. Think I'd be looking for another mechanic. I'd also recheck the lower unit oil a couple of times to make sure it's right.

Yah, he pulled the LU right away and said "full reseal" several times. We can see how that worked out.

Well, I grabbed the boat yesterday afternoon. He said, "Sorry about that, she's all ready to go on the side of the building there." No extra bill, so that was a good thing.

Today we are supposed to actually see sun so I may run up to the lake for a trial if I can sneak away for a couple hours. I'm sure it's fine but we'll swap out the LU oil just to be sure.

I'll tell ya, there are no less than 6 marine tech dealers within reasonable driving distance and I am consistently disappointed by each of them. Bummer.

I am very thankful for iboats and it's awesome members to help get me work through so much of this kinda stuff. I'd otherwise be totally screwed on a regular basis by going to the dealers.

Thanks iboats:thumb::joyous:

All that worrying and fussing.

You could have done that, screwed it up and fixed it again all by yourself.

Glad it worked out and stays a okay.

Good deal jas!! Glad that you weren't charged...who knows how the mob would've reacted! :cool:

I'm assuming that it was pressure/vacuum tested this time.
