I just purchased a 1982 Capri custom built by Arrow Glass design; bow rider with walk through windshield
Powered by a 170 Hp V6 OMC. The boat is pulling good, but not extremely good for a 170 HP boat. I have noticed that when I shift down, I gain speed unitl I get to the 3o'clock throttle position and then I really gain no more speed as the throttle is pushed all the way down. Same as when trying to slow down, nothing happens from full throttle to about 3o'clcok and then it slows down. i was told this could be the throttle cable linkage. Any ideas? If so, can I adjust this when I hook the boat up to a waterhose and earmuffs? Starting the boat, putting in neutral pushing to full throttle, then turning the boat off? Or should this only be attempted in the water?
The engine is
1982 "Stringer " type ( Not Cobra type)
OMC Sterndrive.
