OK, quick side track- EAA's magazine, Feb. 2000 I think. Interviewed by a guy I revered at Oshkosh (Bud Davison). I had already read nearly every word he had written. When he walked up to me and asked if I had a minute, just a few minutes after tying the plane down after arriving, I thought I had done something wrong.... -Al
Do they still publish the shortwing piper magazine?

Years ago I bought a 12' x 36' home built toon. When they put in the transom well they sawed out a space for the well in the 3"x 4" x12' aluminum I beam and bolted in the well. Over the years the beam and floor sank down lower so the backend of the Rude 70 was almost in the water. A local fabricator built me a 24"w by 30"d by 24' long toon with the engine mount right on the back end. Tabs for attaching to the floor beams made the installation easy. Drilling the tabs for SS bolts and flooding the toon then floating in place and pumping out made the aft of that 36' rise about 5". A Johnson GT 150 motor made that big old barge move like a 24'!
