Hi. What's it take to add charging capability to 1997 evinrude 25 hp manual Start tiller motor 2 stroke 2 cylinder? I imagine I'll need a component under the flywheel, a rectifier, some battery cables? Since it's manual start where do the battery cables hook to since there is no starter or starter relay? Is this even possible?

All the needed components are big money to do this. Your best bet would be to find a parts motor that has other issues. The research you need to do is cross referencing your model number with a parts motor model number.

I did this on a buddy’s 15hp 1984. Timsoutboard.com had used electric start stator plate w/battery charging coil, wiring block and rectifier for under $100. Smaller wires are fine to hook to battery, as not a large amp load. Negative to engine block and + to red wire from rectifier. Good luck!

Should be able to do it for less than a $100. Used stator on eBay and a rectifier.

Just checked a few parts. Looks like Part number 0582926 for the stator and 0581778 for rectifier. There are 3 yellow wires on rectifier and 1 red. Three yellow wires on stator. Which yellows go to which? Is the red wire on the rectifier where I attach a long wire to carry the output to my battery? Another negative wire from engine ground to battery? Is this all correct? Thanks guys

It makes no difference. Replacement rectifiers may just have three plain yelllow wires.
Yes the red wire is the positive output.
The negative is the rectifier case and is grounded to the motor but it makes sense to connect the negative battery wire to one of the regulator fixing screws.
BTW ITYWF that number for the stator is obsolete .
