Ibought my first Dell iin '98, she's slow conpared to everything else now days, but she still runs just fine.
The 2 drives I lost were in my Dell Opti. I recently replaced the power pack and have to wonder if it was a contributing factor the last two years to the drives dying.
I do have everything plugged into a back-up power supply so voltage to everything is quite stable, none of the peaks and lulls of normal household current.
And I can still sit here when the power is out and the rest of the neighborhood is dark.
I'm on dialysis and pass my time during sessions reading these forums.
