Just purchased a used 19ft skiff with a Evinrude120. Only has one battery and I want to add another. How do I go about it?

Re: Adding a battery

When you add the 2nd battery, connect them together by running a battery cable from the positive post on one battery to the positive post on the other battery. Also run a battery cable from the negative post on one battery to the negative post on the other. This keeps your electrical system 12 volt.

Re: Adding a battery

Buy a Perko or other brand switch to add the battery.
This allows you to choose either or both batteries.
I doubt that the charging system on your motor can charge two batts, and if they are hooked as stated in a previous post then if there is a problem that draws the batts down, you will loose both and defeat the purpose of having two batteries.

Then you will need to either switch to charge both batteries, or charge them at home to make they both stay up.

Re: Adding a battery

The most common way with 2 batteries is using an Off/1/2/Both switch. Then you can choose which battery you want to use, or use both at the same time.
