Hi Guys, I have a 2003 150 Mercury ob with trim/tilt.. The motor has the switch on the side of the motor and it works well... I want to add a trim/tilt switch in my dash... Is it possible to jump into the existing wiring somewhere and add the switch? Or should there be a plug on the harness somewhere For an additional switch?? Just don't want to short out or damage anything by Daaaaa just adding switch over here....

Thanks Guys

Re: Add Trim Tilt switch to my dash?

Absolute easy addition. You run the wires and match up the colors. There is only three wires.

On an older bass boat I had three....... a bow mount, engine mount and a steering wheel mounted switch. That way I was able to hold on to the wheel and tilt/trim (I also had a hotfoot accelerator pedal so both hands stayed on the wheel).

You can get dash mounted, control mounted, floor mounted or wheel mounted switches. The wheel mounted one I had.....had a cord similar to a telephone cord so it wrapped the steering column as you turn. The newer ones for steering wheels now mount similar to the turn signal on your car.

Here are some in the iboats store and there are many on the net to get too. trim switch - iboats

Isn't there a trim switch on the throttle lever?

make sure any switch is water tight or the motor will start trimming when you least expect it.
