My outboard has a small screw on the lower section that unscrews and an adapter screws in that will attach to a hose for flushing. Where do I find the adapter? I have been to the parts suppliers on the internet and cannot find one listed.

Also, if I find one does the motor need to be running while flushing or just run water through it.

The "ears" flushing devices to not work because the intake is not on the sides but is underneath.

Re: Adapter for flushing 9.9

This fellow is talking (i think) about the plug (screw) on the lower unit, near the lube fill screws. It simply says "flush".

I looked in my 9.9 book and it is not identified.

However, if this is for a Yamaha 9.9 it has side inlets for muffs, maybe a Mercury?

Anyhow, anyone know what that "flush" port is for?

On my 2006 Suzuki DF9.9 is the flashing adapter port located
just above the anti cavitation plate. You have to unscrew the screw
and screw in garden hose adapter. Works great.

Where do you get the garden hose adapter? Do you run the engine while flushing with the adapter or just let the water pressure flush it?

Re: Adapter for flushing 9.9

you can make your own with a couple of garden pipe fittings and PVC pipe, isn't all this effort just easier to put the lower unit in a bucket of water? .....

The motor stays on the boat in the water all the time. Not sure how to get a bucket under it. It actually takes a bigger container than a bucket. More like large trash can.
