Hello, I have an AD-10 7.5 hp and the shifter broke off when I had the engine set down on its side. I already ordered a replacement but am wondering if anyone can provide any insight on this repair? From the parts I am seeing online it looks like it may just be a pressure fit? Just hoping for some insight in the repair while I wait for the new part to show up. Thanks!

just diassemble therear mounting nutsand bolts pull out the handle

if you have the parts you may be able to simply have it soldered. you can even fill the back hollow side with some JB weld and a couple of 3 inch nails soaked in over the crack ! .

Powerhead must be removed (7 screws #23). Then remove screw 25 & washer 26 from inner shift lever (#33). Now you can pull the old broken one straight out (catch washer # 29). WARNING! attempting to shift with screw #25 removed may result in breakage of inner lever #33.
Replace everything in reverse order. You probably should replace#31 o-ring to prevent water dripping while running.

This will also be a good time to check/replace the water pump impeller, which also requires powerhead removal. And last but not least, inspect the carbon seal assembly which you will find at the top end of the drive shaft. Replace any parts of it which are not 100% good. That seal is vital to the health of the motor.

EDIT: Picture failed to load. Oh well....
