active warning -> warning light.

On my 1999/2000 3ltr V6 200hp Optimax I'm struggling with some alarms.
We fixed one error (low oil) but the Rinda DDT keeps showing one active fault saying "warning light" and nothing more.

Can anyone tell me what the meaning is from that error?

There are no warning lights hooked up (I don't have that "gauge"), maybe the error tells me that the "check engine" light is active/burning ?

If anyone knows, pls tell me, thx!!

No warning horns to go with the warning light? The horn works normal at key up?

Doing some online homework suggests 2 prior ideas to check the throttle cable and/or throttle position sensor as that could turn the light on with no horn if either is out of adjustment.

Thx for your reply!

I don't have the lights in my boat, but the Rinda shows only "warning light" with the active faults.
The beeper works perfect, also on key-on.

I got other problems where my engine goes in alarm and sometimes even guardian mode (my guess is cooling problems, but not sure yet).
Thats why we hooked up a DDT, but the DDT only shows "warning light".
I wondered if someone could tell me what this fault code means.

edit, my engine doesn't have Smartcarft

Bear in mind this may be a case of the ECM is designed to sort of ignore this warning light code as far as setting off a warning horn because it would be known out of Merc that not all boat manufacturers would physically install the warning light.... Since you boat doesn't have the light plugged in, the ECM may be seeing this and telling the DDT there's an issue but factory turned the horn off knowing otherwise.

Been a while to use a DDT but without looking it up in a manual, i believe there is a stored fault history report that you could go read to see what else had triggered and when...Have you seen that option on the scan tool?

The following link is of some interesting notes you'll want to know of plus often the oil tank & sensor on the engine gets oil sludged up inside sounding the horn and also be sure the tank is 100% full or it will sound the horn. Check the wire harness number 19 too like bup mentions.

Thank you again!

The oil tank sensor is definitly faulty imho, we got rid of that active fault by jumping the sensor.
This is een temporally fix, I will buy a new tank in time.
I heard from the sludgy DFI oils, but I run on Premium Plus and I thought that doesn't sludge?
Anyway, that problem we got tackled.

In the DDT we couldn't find a list (if there is any) where it showed all the ocurred alarms.
The only faults we could find where the "active faults", and the only active fault now is that "warning light".

As of the way the ECM is designed, you're guess is also mine.
But you got me thinking and I took a look on the wiring diagram for my motor.
I will hook up a light bulp to the corresponding wire (the check engine light) and see if it lights up.
I don't have the Rinda here so I can't confirm if that is the problem or not, but it is worth trying...
