I recently purchased a 1994 action craft bayrunner 17-18ft flats boat. One owner, exceptional condition. Can anyone tell me if this boat has any wood in it or is it composite. I have looked over the internet without success. Thankyou for your time.

Based on the website they have looks like they eliminated wood core material..... " 1983 No-Wood Core Materials First Used Structural PVC foam core sandwich construction was introduced, increasing strength, and reducing weight. " Also that same year " 1983 Molded Fiberglass Hull Stringer System
Action Craft began using an all Fiberglass, no wood, foam filled Hull Stringer System." Then in " 1986 One-piece Hull Liner Action Craft developed the "Uni-Hull" process of building a shallow water skiff with a one-piece liner throughout the entire hull. This was the first time a Uni-Hull design was used in construction of a line of shallow water fishing skiffs. This system is still used today in all of Action Craft's elite series of Flyfisher and FlatsMaster boats. No other skiff builder offers the premium design and proven construction method. This is one of the main reasons why the design and construction of an Action Craft still goes un-matched by any other skiff builder in the industry today."

Re: action craft

Thankyou for your reply. While drilling holes in the front deck for a trolling motor ( i hate doing that ) i saw a type of material that (a) was wood pulp or (b) resembled it closely. The hull numbers confirm it is a 1994 model boat so I was interested in knowing when the manufacturer changed to all composite. Thanks again.

Re: action craft

Called the home office as you instructed and amazingly talked to a real person who was very knowledgable. The boat does have wood in it albeit sandwiched between two thick layers of glass. According to the person I talked to action craft did not start making boats that were completely composite until the year 2000. Thanks again for your reply.
