Re: Accidental Muskie

Little late with this post by my buddy has written a few books and one of them was "The Accidental Musky" and you guessed it, it's about catching them when not fishing for them. How to release them etc. Another book "The Quest for Girthra" is a small history of how we got into Musky fishing and some of our adventures, including a road trip to the 1000 Islands.Anyway as in any fish not destined for the dinner plate, release them bad boys with as little handling as possible and after they catch there "breath".

Re: Accidental Muskie

Congrats on your first musky. Last year up at Eagle Lake by Dryden a 15 year old girl was napping about 6pm with a minnow on a jig when all of a sudden she gets woke up by the pole being jerked from her hands. The other people in the boat helped her land a 42" musky that night. They were just jigging for eyes at the time. We all gave her a ration at supper, then a day later she pulls the same stunt at a different spot. Another musky! The next night I heard her brothers pored water on her when she napped again!! :D

Re: Accidental Muskie

Landed my first Muskie as well this summer. Walleye fishing. Caught a little blue gill and as I was pulling it out of the water to unhook it this shark rocks it! Well wasnt a shark, but may well have been at the time, lol, scared the s*%t out of me! Swallowed the little gill giving me time to half net it and drag it in the boat.

Getting it back in the water is another story....learned a good lesson that day about gilling a muskie. Cut the crap outta my fingers.
