I ran into a fella at the gas station who just finished it and fell in love!......then the next day we ran into him at the river and my wife actually liked it so its a go <cost me a new washer and dryer>
here is his Http://forums.bateau2.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26373&start=180
be a little while till I get started but I am trying to get my ducks in a row

1.where is the best place to buy epoxy resin? Maybe for pick up in the houston area
2. Will epoxy work with fiberglass that is sold for general purpose resin...there is a shop in south houston that sells many diffrent styles and weights fiberglass but not epoxy resin itself

by the way yall will be part if this build.......best place I have found yet

I found a new epoxy source that you could look at .....google Epoxy NH and see what comes up. Most epoxies are similar but this one claims to be cheaper.

Go for it many people here have built from scratch!!

Jump in head first but watch that landing!

You'll want to find cloth that is compatible w/ epoxy. All fiberglass (esp CSM - Chopped Strand Mat) will not work well w/ epoxy. Epoxy lacks the styrene needed to dissolve the binders used to make CSM (& others).

Raku is out west somewhere & has been used buy some, US Composites & Composites One are also used often. Look around using google & the internet & find a supplier that works best for you.... Often you can find a local supplier for everything that will sell you small bulk (5gal +/-) quantities from their 55gal bulk containers. But that will require quite a few phone calls & some site visits.

I considered the Bateau2 when I started looking for a small wooden boat to build last summer. My plywood knock down 3 part canoe/kayak is in my signature line... .

Interesting... I see they offer a non blushing mix, would be a good bet for the guys that epoxy indoors.

USC is a cheaper, but their mix can blush if used indoors in cooler temps.
