Hey guys,

This is my first post on your forum, but I hope you're interested! A mate of mine and I are riding our Kawasaki KLR650 motorbikes up through South America but we're stuck in Colombia because of the impassable Darien Gap - the roadless bottleneck of land separating Colombia and Panama and therefore South and Central America. Roadless would be ok for an adventure biking through the jungle and swamps, but it's full of Guerillas, so it's a no-go.

Usually the option is to throw your bike on a yacht or trader boat but that would be cheating. We want to be the first people in history to go around the Gap under the power of our motorbike and Adam will possibly be the first person ever to cover the entire length of the American double continent solely under his bike's power.

So we have a boat. We pulled it from the colombian beach and have fixed it to a point of seaworthiness, indeed powered by our bikes which are cooled by the sea.

However, we have a problem. The paperwork. We have tracked down the owner who has no authentic paperwork. He has signed legal document assuming responsibility if there is a real owner with real paperwork out there, but it is unlikely. So we have ownership, the first hurdle. But we need a Matricular, which is basically the complete Colombian seaworthiness document with engineering report, narcotics inspection certificate etc.

Here is the problem. We also need a document of history and tradition of which we have none. Fortunately the boat has a manufacturers plate, however, it doesn't help us much. This is hopefully where you come in.

My question is thus: does anyone know any history at all about this boat, who the company is and if they are still around?

I will leave the photos to do the talking and I thank you in advance!

So it didn't let me attach... Maybe this time.

Oh and I forgot, it kinda had a name under a few layers of paint something like SAN LO*AN where the star was possible an R or an H,..

Keep your eyes on our website for a cracker video in the next week and full engineering report!

You've been had, bro...unless you marry the local constabulary's daughter. They sold you a scow for a few quid, now the ransom/extortion begins...several thou for the necessary papers which will allow you to float that wreck offshore far enough to sink and become shark food. Hmmm...all the evidence gone in one fell swoop, and they have your moolah in their pockets, to boot. What a sweet deal! Give the boat away, sell your bikes and buy a plane ticket home...you're not ready for this type of expedition yet. Never get out of the boat...unless your willing to go all the way.

Mate, the boat is not in that condition now. She floats, turns, sails and we're friends with the military. Any other extraneous questions?

Bribe someone, cash greases the skids.
Consider paying the PO to register it then rent it from him.
A native might have an easier time getting it sorted.
