Hey guys,
This is my first post on your forum, but I hope you're interested! A mate of mine and I are riding our Kawasaki KLR650 motorbikes up through South America but we're stuck in Colombia because of the impassable Darien Gap - the roadless bottleneck of land separating Colombia and Panama and therefore South and Central America. Roadless would be ok for an adventure biking through the jungle and swamps, but it's full of Guerillas, so it's a no-go.
Usually the option is to throw your bike on a yacht or trader boat but that would be cheating. We want to be the first people in history to go around the Gap under the power of our motorbike and Adam will possibly be the first person ever to cover the entire length of the American double continent solely under his bike's power.
So we have a boat. We pulled it from the colombian beach and have fixed it to a point of seaworthiness, indeed powered by our bikes which are cooled by the sea.
However, we have a problem. The paperwork. We have tracked down the owner who has no authentic paperwork. He has signed legal document assuming responsibility if there is a real owner with real paperwork out there, but it is unlikely. So we have ownership, the first hurdle. But we need a Matricular, which is basically the complete Colombian seaworthiness document with engineering report, narcotics inspection certificate etc.
Here is the problem. We also need a document of history and tradition of which we have none. Fortunately the boat has a manufacturers plate, however, it doesn't help us much. This is hopefully where you come in.
My question is thus: does anyone know any history at all about this boat, who the company is and if they are still around?
I will leave the photos to do the talking and I thank you in advance!
