And this will be a good thing, because?

It may not be a good thing as most will be lost due to the dependance on technology to do their thinking. Its been proven that more a human brain is used to think, the better it gets in problem solving.

Go to a store where young people work the cash registers. If the computers go down they are lost as they can't add the total, inculde tax, and worst of all they don't know how to tender change from the cash. I have witnessed this many times in our stores. Usually we pull in the older folks to handle the front counters.

I just feel many rely to heavily on technology to get through the day.

I remember when in the Navy the computers would go down and things would come to a halt. "Cancel the War as the computers are down". We all know that isn't going to happen.

Someone will eventually build self awareness into AI, then the human race will end, unless somebody can make the computer crash. Sure hope some will remember how to did in the dirt, plant seeds, cultivate and harvest crops, cause that is where they will be. I know you think I watch too much tv, but look back through history at the things that would never happen, you know, things like, man will never walk on the moon, guess what. It really is not that far fetched, it could happen. :D

I suppose AI is possible to the (very limited) extent that we understand what intelligence is. Maybe next we could work on understanding what judgement is. . . then wisdom. . . .then creativity. . .then. . . what??

We can't even spell, for crying out loud. :(

I think I am really glad that I will be just a memory before this goes much further.

I'm still waiting for the flying cars, transporters, and self cleaning kitchen of the future I was promised 50 plus years ago.
