A friend needs a new below deck fuel tank. It's the belly style I believe.

My neighbor and I removed his leaking tank yesterday. 1996 Trophy Bayliner 20'. Hes looking for a new replacement, his style is a below deck belly style I believe. The dimensions are 44" long 33" wide 14" deep, 82 gallon tank. He's going with plastic this time, doesn't necessarily need 80 gallon tank , he said 30-40 gallons is fine. His tank Vs or tapers off on the sides and then it's flat. Any ideas where to go. Photos below. Photo 3 shows the hole in the tank.

While changing from 80 to 40 Gal might be ok for your friend, if it was ever to be resold might be a real bad deal breaker. Also might only use 25 Gal now, but that doesn't leave much for safety, and it's not likely all the fuel can be used

West marine prices are double of dedicated marine supply houses.

save money, buy from the tank manufacturers or the supply houses

I would not go down from an 80 gallon tank.
