is pump marine grade or automotive??? I tried to cut corners many years ago by replacing a faulty pump with an auto's. Bad mistake!
I have the original OEM pump. its never shown signs of failure, but I'm allowing for the possibility that the OEM was in fact originally 4-6psi, and the aftermarket are 9-10 psi (specifically for marine use), and my pump may have increased in pressure (to exactly 9.3psi). All the carbs state max of 6.5psi.

it's baffling that todays replacement pumps are rated for 9-10, but the carbs are limited to 6.5 .

I have no other way of explaining it. My last carb was flooding. I assumed it was a corroded carb (too much for me to clean out). So I replaced it. And the flooding continued with the new carb. I installed a regulator to 6psi, the replacement carb still floods, but a secondary replacement worked.
