Start with the basics if you compression is good then go ahead and clean the carbs and set the timing. Once you have that out of the way go for the more serious stuff. Normally a drop off in RPMS, without any warning buzzers, means a lack of fuel. Make sure your fuel is clean, change the filter and test the fuel pumps. You should have 5.7 psi at 5000 RPMS
