99 model 75 tracker question please help

I have pro team 175 with 75 tracker motor. Boat runs great but when I plain out the voltage on the gauge spike past 18 volts and after a couple of mins pops the main fuse on the motor. Also when it's cooler outside the voltage is still around the 16-18 volts and takes longer to blow the fuse any one have any ideas? Thanks in advance Kyle

Check your battery connections. The battery acts as a voltage regulator of sorts so if the connections aren't good, the voltage is unregulated.
