97 115/80 jet throttle up issues

wont reach full throttle sometimes, got it back from dealer last week fished yesterday, runs fine for awhile. Turn motor off,go to restart then bogs down throw back in nuetral 3 or 4 times performace is back i got hit for 400 bucks for a stator i dont think i needed, they ckecked all ignition parts said stator was weak could this be as simple as throttle control cables, linkage?

could be dropping a coil, sounds heat related. could be carb float needle not closing all the way, flooding the motor.

Check to make sure the diverter is adjusted correctly, it's the piece that moves in front of the jet nozzle to go in reverse. It can move up slightly and cover the nozzle a little and you lose speed, moving it in and out of neutral can reset it to the correct position for a while.

It hangs down under the jet when in forward and can get banged on logs or rocks which can mess with the adjustment.
