96 yammy c20 tell tale

I started this motor up and there was no water coming out for the first few minutes. I shut it down and then started up again, the stream was on now and seemed strong. Is there a thermostat on these motors?

Thanks so yhis is normal<br />How do you know when you have a problem?<br />After say 5 minutes or so?
