my 96 Johnson j150eledb is running hot. their is a water restriction in the head on the right side. new pump and thermos.
with lower unit removed I ran water up to the heads. after about 3 minutes the right side will clog up completely. with themo covers off you can clearly see that right side is getting less water than left side. any help on what problem could be and estimated cost will be appreciated.

I don't like to tell you this but OMC had some problems like this in those years. The cure was to take the head off and soak the water passages in muriatic for one hour and then flush the heck out of it. If this helps, do it again.

No, all you do is pull the cylinder head off. Power head stays. You'll also need some new O-rings for the head. You'll be soaking the cylinder head only.
