96 Johnson fast strike 175

Hit the lake this morning. After about the 3 move the motor would not start. It does not turn over or anything. The trim works and the is 12 volts at the starter. Anyone got any ideas? Any and all help is appreciated.

Dumb question. Was it in neutral ?? Or a bad neutral safety switch ??

It was in nuetral and we have tested what I believe to be the nuetral safety switch. We even took a jumper and jumped what we believe to be the nuetral safety switch and still nothing. When you turn the key there is a beep at the console but there is not even a click or any sounds at the motor.

bad solenoid/starter or loose ground/positive connector..dead battery
