96 bayliner jazz shifter removal help!!!!

I have a broken shifter able on my 96 bayliner jazz. I have been trying to get the morse control of of the boat for 2 days and I am at my wits end! How in the world do you get the control out of the hole to access the cable so I can fish the new shifter cable in???

Any ideas? I know it can come out as it it installed now so somehow Bayliner got in in the first place!
