96 120 lower unit

I found a 96 lower unit for my 97 120 force. Does anyone know if they are interchangable? Thanks

That's about the time they put the Force powerhead on a Merc leg. If it looks identical to the one you have, it should.

A repair manual would give you a clue as well.

They are the same. My 95 Force 120 has the Merc lower unit. I believe 95 to be the first year and they remained the same til they ended production. The housing is the same as the unit on my brother's 95 model Merc 75 horse.
