I hope someone can help me out with these 2 questions regarding my 1995 Force 90 on a 17' Pro Line...

1. What should the RPM's be at WOT??? Mine is running over 6500 RPMs at WOT, and runs at top speed of 32-35 MPH. My guess is that I need a different prop?

2. After idling for 3-4 minutes, the engine will stall and is difficult to restart. I've remedied this problem by NOT IDLING THE MOTOR, but I'd still like to fix the underlying problem.

Re: 95 Force 90 - idle/WOT

I had a 96 Force 90 that had problems holding idle and would stop running. Ran OK at WOT but was also on the high rpm side. Turned out to be that the engine had shipped from the factory with no head gasket. Mercury covered the repair even tho the engine was out of warrenty. They wouldn't comment other then to pay for the repair..... ;)

May want to check accuracy of the tach, and verify it is set to the correct setting on the back.
