My Evinrude 115 has two trim control switches, one at the throttle and one on the motor. When using the switch by the throttle, the trim seems to work fine in both directions. When I use the switch on the motor to trim the engine down, the trim will work at first however the next time I try to trim the engine down from either switch the trim going down does not work. The problem does not afect the trim in the up direction. After a while the trim going down will begin to work again, we have no idea what triggers it to work again. We also checked for loose wires/connections and everything seems to be fine.
Is it possible that the relay for the down direction has a problem triggered by the signal sent from the motor switch that would cause it to temporarily fail for both switches.
When the problem with the trim is occurring, the trim motor make no noise and the volt meter does not register any current/voltage draw at all. It seems as if no power is being sent to the trim system at all.
Thanks.
